The Abilene Youth Orchestra (AYO) is a full symphonic youth orchestra that provides a unique opportunity for the most serious and talented young musicians in the Big Country to perform advanced musical literature that will challenge and inspire them to continue their musical education.  The AYO not only serves as a performance opportunity for young musicians, but, also provides a cultural education for them, their families and friends.

The primary purpose of the AYO is to provide the finest quality symphonic training and performance opportunities for young musicians in a professional environment by promoting advanced music education and the presentation of beautiful symphonic music to all residents of the Big Country. The AYO actively pursues the finest musicianship, and welcomes socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic diversity, recognizing that in diversity is strength.

Who:     Any 9th to 12th grade musician in the Big Country area (advanced 8th grade string players may audition as well).

Where:  Abilene Christian University

When:   Fall semester rehearsals – Sundays from 2:30 PM to 4:45 PM September 15th through November 10th.  Dress rehearsal Saturday November 16th.

Performance – Sunday, November 17th at 3pm.
