Con­duc­tor David Itkin presents an infor­ma­tive pre-concert talk Sat­ur­day evenings before our clas­si­cal con­certs. The pre­sen­ta­tions are held back­stage at 7:15 p.m. and will pre­cede all Mas­ter­work con­certs this year.

Tick­e­tReach

Tick­e­tReach has been expanded to pro­vide tick­ets to stu­dents through school teach­ers in any grades in the pub­lic schools. It con­tin­ues to use non­prof­its to put tick­ets into the hands of stu­dents and fam­i­lies who might oth­er­wise be unable to expe­ri­ence the Phil­har­monic. Tick­e­tReach is spon­sored by Hen­drick Health Systems.

Young Artist Schol­ar­ship Competition

The Young Artist Schol­ar­ship Com­pe­ti­tion was estab­lished by the Abi­lene Phil­har­monic to help sup­port out­stand­ing young musi­cians in the Abi­lene area. The bi-annual com­pe­ti­tion is open to Wood­wind, Brass, Per­cus­sion, String, and Piano stu­dents between the ages of 12–18 that live in Texas School Regions 14 or 15. Schol­ar­ship awards may be used for pri­vate music lessons, music camps, and uni­ver­sity tuition. Schol­ar­ship amounts are: 1st Place $1,500, 2nd Place $1,000, 3rd Place $750.

Conductor’s Notes with David Itkin

Con­duc­tor David Itkin will present one-hour radio pro­grams about upcom­ing music and com­posers. The pro­gram airs on pub­lic radio sta­tion KACU, 89.7 FM, each Wednes­day evening at 8 p.m. dur­ing the week of clas­si­cal con­certs. Our thanks to KACU for allow­ing this service.
