Abilene Philharmonic David Itkin, Music Director

Education

Discover Music Series

Almost 6,000 area youth learn about orchestras and music each year through the Philharmonic's student concerts. This proud tradition began in 1955.

Concert Conversations

Conductor David Itkin presents an informative pre-concert talk Saturday evenings before our concerts. The presentations are held backstage at 7:15 and will precede all concerts this year except for the Christmas Celebration.

TicketReach

TicketReach has been expanded to provide tickets to students through school teachers in any grades in the public schools. It continues to use nonprofits to put tickets into the hands of students and families who might otherwise be unable to experience the Philharmonic. TicketReach is sponsored by Hendrick Health Systems.

Young Artist Scholarship Competition

This season marks the beginning of a new service by the Abilene Philharmonic! The Young Artist Scholarship Competition was established by the Abilene Philharmonic to help support outstanding young musicians in the Abilene area. The competition is open to Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, String, and Piano students between the ages of 12-18 that live in Texas School Regions 14 or 15. Scholarship awards may be used for private music lessons, music camps, and university tuition. Scholarship amounts are: 1st Place $1,000, 2nd Place $700, 3rd Place $450.
