Discover Music Education Concert Series

The Discover Music series has been a part of the Abilene Philharmonic’s season since 1955. Held annually at the Abilene Civic Center in October, the series reaches approximately 6,000 area students in grades three through five each year. Student-friendly programs are designed by the Music Director and a Teacher’s Guide curriculum book is created by an area teacher which integrates with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) guidelines.

For more information on the concerts, or to sign your class up, please contact the Abilene Philharmonic Offices, or email our Education Director.

This Year’s Program

This year, we are proud to present Close Encounters of the Symphonic Kind, a program designed by Music Director David Itkin to introduce students to some of the lesser known instruments within the orchestra. This year’s teacher’s guide has been designed by Patti Walker.
