Vacancies for 2014-2015 Season

Only highly qualified candidates need apply. We cannot accept applications from international musicians. Operations Manager will contact you to verify that your spot has been reserved. Candidates should be advised that our travel reimbursement is capped at $125 per concert.  For questions regarding pay scale contact  APO Operations Manager.

Principal Second Violin

All excerpts are for First Violin parts. All violinists will audition during the same block of time, whether they are being considered for a Principal or Section position. Auditioning for the Principal position will not exclude violinists in contention for a section position.

Please indicate whether you are auditioning for the principal or section position before  your audition on the CANDIDATE INFORMATION SHEET. The sheet can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.

Section and Substitute Strings (All)

Section auditions for Viola, Cello, and Bass will occur after auditions for violin have concluded.

Scheduling Information

To schedule an audition, please mail a one-page resume and $25.00 refundable deposit (check or money order only) to the Abilene Philharmonic offices (401 Cypress St. Ste 520, Abilene, TX 79601). If you are unable to attend, please notify the Abilene Philharmonic Operations Manager at least 24-hours in advance of the scheduled audition in order to receive your deposit back.

Audition Procedures

All audition times are tentative and subject to change. Audition times will be assigned by the APO Operations Manager on a space-available basis beginning one week before the audition date. Audition registration begins at least 30 minutes prior to your audition time. Failure to register prior to your audition may result in forfeiture of audition time and deposit. Individual space for warm-up is limited in this venue, please plan accordingly.

The first round of the audition will be screened. Subsequent rounds will begin immediately after the conclusion of the previous round and will not be screened. The audition committee will ask applicants to perform different excerpts in the second round than the first round.

Violinists must indicate whether they are auditioning for the Principal Second Violin position or a Section position.
