We’re Moving!

New Location Allows for Enhanced Educational Programs

The Abilene Philharmonic Association has had dreams of moving into a new space and being able to offer more opportunities to engage the community for years, and it has finally come to fruition. This summer, we will be moving to the first floor of the Wooten Hotel! Our new location will be 1102 North 3rd St. Suite C., and our anticipated move-in date will be the end of July, after a few renovations have been completed.

One of the main reasons that we have been looking for more functional space, is for our newly developed Academy of Music to grow and flourish. In this new location will be able to house traditional forms of music education, as well as utilizing technology to offer video conferenced masterclasses, live streamed concerts, and a music creation lab. We are offering several programs within the Academy and are hopeful and excited for the impact this will have in our community. Our existing programs include the Instrument Petting Zoo, Discover Music Children’s Concert series, the Nelda Hodges Young Artist Competition, Masterclasses, Side-by-Side Performances, coaching sessions, free community performances and Ticket Reach. We are so thankful for the incredible anonymous gift of $180,000 during this past season that will give us the ability to establish the Academy of Music and increase our educational programs!

In addition, in this new location we are able to easily participate in more community activities such as Artwalk and other downtown events. Our convenient location will lend itself to have easier accessibility for purchasing concert tickets, which we hope will help boost our overall concert attendance.

“This is a very exciting move for the Philharmonic. We hope being on the first floor of the historic Wooten Hotel will create more awareness and make the Philharmonic more accessible for our patrons and students attending Academy of Music activities,” stated Kevin Smith, Executive Director, Abilene Philharmonic Association.

We invite you to show your support for the Abilene Philharmonic by participating in one of our upcoming educational programs or attending one of our concerts. We look forward to an outstanding season with a wonderful line up so be sure to purchase your season subscriptions for the 2018-2019 which are now on sale.
