2008 Young Artist

Scholarship Competition

The Abilene Philharmonic is proud to present our first biennial Young Artist Scholarship Competition. This event was established by the Abilene Philharmonic to help support outstanding young musicians in the Abilene area. The competition is open to Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, String, and Piano students between the ages of 12-18 that live in Texas School Regions 14 or 15. Scholarship awards may be used for private music lessons, music camps, and university tuition.

Scholarship amounts are: 1st Place $1,000, 2nd Place $700, 3rd Place $450.  

Preliminaries will be held March 8, 2008 at the Williams Performing Arts Center located on the campus of Abilene Christian University. Preliminary round will be recorded and later reviewed by a panel of judges. Finalists will be selected and notified by March 31, 2008. Finals will be held at the Williams Performing Arts Center on May 1, 2008.
